Obituary

Joseph Augustine Kubic, age 91 of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

Joeleaves behind his wife, Patricia May; his children, Thomas Kubic (Jennai), Robert Kubic and John Kubic (Jill); his grandchildren, Natalie, Gareth (Nicole), Joseph “Jake”, Kyle, Hana, Caroline, and Nora, and his great grandson, Macsen Kubic. He also leaves behind his sister MaryAnn Semosky. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Arthur Kubic and his parents, Joseph Andrew Kubic and Mary Pruzinsky.

Joe graduated from Stratford High School in 1953. He started working at Sikorsky Aircraft at the age of 18 as a riveter. Thus began a successful 40-year career at the company. He retired in 1994 as a Senior Manager. Joe was born and lived nearly his entire life on James Farm Road. Growing up on his family farm, he learned how to milk cows, drive tractors, and grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers. These were life skills he taught to his children and grandchildren. He knew the names of every tree and flower. On a typical day you could find him splitting firewood, hoeing, or picking blueberries with his children and grandchildren and teaching them about the forest and family grounds. He both respected and revered nature.

When not in his garden, Joe enjoyed puzzles and was a master at fireman’s rummy. He also was a devoted NY Giants and Yankees fan. Though he lived a humble lifestyle, presentation and respectability was important to him. His priority was family. Joe was the greatest of granddads and made a point of being present at every game, graduation, birthday and holiday celebration. Joe was very trusted and well respected among family and friends. He liked everyone and everyone liked him. He also hardly complained and made the best of difficult, uneasy situations.

Joe, our Dad and Papa will be dearly missed but undoubtedly will live on in all of us.

Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, October 28th, 2026, from 4-7 pm at the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT. All other services will be private.
