Joseph B. Kowalczyk, age 90 of Stratford, widower of Theresa Santora Kowalczyk, passed away on Tuesday August 30, 2011 in Pope John Paul II HCC, Danbury. Mr. Kowalczyk, a WW II Veteran of the U.S. Air Force was born in Vassalboro, Maine to the late Joseph and Eleanor (Machlenska) Kowalczyk and has been along time area resident. He was a retired machinist for Remington Arms. Joe, an avid reader, was a very bright guy, who could build or fix anything, and come April was relied on to do everyone's taxes. Survivors include his devoted children Joseph Kowalczyk and his wife Susan of Ansonia, and Janice Caruso and her husband David of Seymour, 4 grandchildren Marianeen Velleco and her husband John, Monica Millspaugh and her husband Robert, David Caruso and his wife Rachel, and Nicholas Caruso and his fiancé Emily Steckert, 4 great-grandchildren Kate, Bert, Megan, and Kevin. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was pre-deceased by a grandson Joseph Kowalczyk, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral services will take place on Friday September 2nd at 9 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 am in St. Mark's Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
