Joseph H. Kordish, age 80, of Stratford, beloved husband of Sylvia Sernak Kordish, passed away on July 8, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital. Joe, a U.S Army veteran, was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania on March 19, 1937 to the late John and Elizabeth (Olenik) Kordish and has been a long-time area resident. He was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. Joe was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed watching football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of the Our Lady of Grace Men's Club, and was a longtime volunteer for the Kennedy Center. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 54 years include his devoted children, Carolyn Kordish of Stratford, Christopher Kordish and his wife Susan of Massachusetts, and David Kordish and his wife Victoria of Sandy Hook, 4 cherished grandchildren, John, Kayla, Annmarie, and Sophia, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Sernak and his wife Ruth of North Carolina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12 ^th meeting directly in Our Lady of Grace Church 497 Second Hill Lane Stratford. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
