Joseph Hritz, age 87, of Stratford, beloved husband of Mary Semanchik Wyskiel Hritz, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in Bridgeport Hospital. Joe, a WW II Veteran of the U.S. Army was born in Granville, NY to the late Nicholas and Helen (Filisko) Hritz and has been a long time area resident. He was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft. Joe was a lifetime member of the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport and their Senior Group. He enjoyed gardening and yard work, but most of all loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife, include his sons, David Wyskiel and his wife Debra of Meriden, Robert Wyskiel and his wife Cheryl of Seymour, and Thomas Wyskiel and his wife Susan of Fairfield, 7 cherished grandchildren, Heather Sita and her husband James, Rebecca, Brittany, Lauren, Carrie, Matthew and Christopher Wyskiel, 2 sisters, Helen Skirkanich of Milford and Madeline Bottone of Ansonia, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his brother, Michael Hritz, and sisters, Mary Turner, Katherine Hritz, Margaret Zaniewski and Julia Zatzick. . Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 7th at 10am in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, 364 Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in memory of Joe to St. John's Church.
