Joseph P. Herzog, age 93 of Stratford passed away on June 9, 2008 at the West Haven Veteran's Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Summ Herzog for over 66 years. Joe was born in Bridgeport on August 17, 1914 to Paul and Julia Herzog. He served in WW # II receiving a Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Medal of Liberte from the French government. He was a football official for many years. Joe retired from E.I. DuPont after 38 years, moving to Port Charlotte, FL. Along with his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his daughter Beth and her husband Richard Sullivan of Stratford, sons Joseph and his wife Aleida of Meriden, J. Michael and his wife Joan of Mesa, AR, and son-in-law John Craig of Waterville, ME. He was a loving grandfather to Kate and husband Chris Gueli of Monroe, Stephen Sullivan and wife Jeanine of New Fairfield, Andrea and husband Barry Alley of Manchester, NH, J.W. Craig of Boston, MA, Alexandra Herzog of Haverhill, MA, Christopher Herzog of New York City, Tyler Herzog and Jerry Herzog of Mesa, AZ and seven great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by a sister-in-law Rose Herzog and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Jo-Ann Craig and four brothers and a sister. There will be no calling hours.
