Joseph Hanish, age 78 of Milford, the beloved widower of Margaret Suglia Hanish passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 9, 2013 in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Scranton Pennsylvania to the late Michael and Anna (Matzak) Hanish, he has been a lifelong area resident. Joseph was retired from the City of Bridgeport, Board of Education; prior to his retirement from the city he was a draftsman for Trio Industries and was the owner and operator of Vinny's Luncheonette in Bridgeport. He was an avid Yankees, Knicks and Giants fan. Survivors include his beloved children Daniel Hanish and his wife Donna of Stratford and Barbara Gray and her husband David of Milford. He was the proud "Poppi" to his 3 cherished grandchildren Kayla Hanish, David and Danielle Gray, 3 sisters, Margaret Dempkowski of Bridgeport, Madeline Bredice and her husband Raymond of Stratford and Emma LaProvidenza of Trumbull, several nieces and nephews and his companions Scooter and Bandit. Joseph was predeceased by 5 brothers, Charles, Nicholas, Michael, Frank and George, 2 sisters Anna Hanish and Helen Welehorsky and brothers-in-law Dominick LaProvidenza, Charles Suglia and his wife Shirley. Funeral service will take place on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 9:15AM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:00AM in St John's Byzantine Catholic Church, 100 St John's Drive, Trumbull with a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 2-5PM. Panachida will take place at 4PM.
