Joseph M. Gutman, age 72 of Bridgeport a lead-driver for Enterprise Rental Car of Wilton since 1993 passed away on Tuesday September 26, 2006 in St. Vincent's Medical Center Bridgeport. Mr. Gutman, a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a border guard in the Panama Canal, was born in Bridgeport to the late Joseph and Theresa Gutman and has been a life long area resident. Prior to working at Enterprise, Joe was employed by Sturm-Ruger of Southport for over thirty-five years. He was a former coach and held many board positions for North End Little League and was also a certified umpire instructor for Little League Baseball and was a member of American Legion Post # 177 and the Civil Defense Squad. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed history and reading. He was the widower of Loretta Babyak Gutman. Survivors include his beloved children Joseph Gutman and his wife Amanda of SC, Michael Gutman and his wife Concetta of Bridgeport, Linda Deamico and Mary Gutman both of Ansonia, 5 grandchildren Michael Gutman Jr, Kenneth Gutman, Staff Sgt Michael Deamico U.S. Army and his wife Angela, Lori-Jo Gregory and her husband Richard and Seth Bishop, 5 great-grandchildren Morgan, Amber, Alexa and Thomas Deamico and Joseph Gregory, 1 sister Vera Toth of Trumbull and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services with full military honors will take place on Tuesday October 3rd at 11 a.m. in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Place Stratford.
