Joseph John Erdos, age 82, of Stratford, devoted husband of Lois Honrath Kollar Erdos, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on February 8, 2018. A lifelong Stratford resident, Joe was born in Bridgeport on July 31, 1935 to the late Stephen and Emma (Lutian) Erdos. He was a graduate of Fairfield Prep – '53 and attended Catholic University. Joe retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after 37 years of service. As a 44 year old bachelor, Joe married Lois, widowed with four daughters and, from then on, was their "Dad". In the year of his retirement, Joe was thrilled to be a "Daddy" by adopting his one year old granddaughter Toni Marie Erdos (aka"Lulu"). He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, an expert gardener and will be remembered for his green thumb, especially growing his precious orchids. Joe was a talented pianist and enjoyed playing for impromptu family sing-a-longs. Joe also loved travelling, particularly the sunny beaches of Aruba. He will always be remembered for his much loved Sunday polninka soup.   Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 38 years, include his sisters: Barbara Saveski of Shelton, and Mercy (Paul) Ingersoll of Stratford, sister in law Eileen Erdos of Stratford, daughters: Toni Marie Erdos (Eddie Cruz) of Stratford, Laura (Pete) Bashar of Stratford, Ann (Mark) Myszka of Pinson, Alabama, Jacqueline (John) Troxell of Weston, grandchildren: Nicole (Mike) Gregor, Alyssa (Alec) Voccola, Kristina (Mark) Harrison, Peter Bashar Jr., Andrew, Frank, and Maggie Myszka, and Stephen Duranko, and step-grandchildren, Chelsea (Darryl) Fredericks, and Hayley (Eugene) Hasanlliu; seven great-grandchildren: Jordan, AJ, Scarlett, Olivia Jo, Miley, Kylie, and Nathan; nieces and nephews: Stephen, Ken (Lidia), MaryBeth (Mike), godson Eric, David (Debbie), Robert (Jenn), Michael, Jeffrey, and Sara; special great nieces and nephews and many cousins. Joe was anxiously awaiting the birth of his grandchild, Amaya Jolee Cruz, due in March. In addition to his parents, Joe was pre-deceased by his brothers Stephen and Michael Erdos; brothers in law Hank Saveski, Carl (Eleanor) Honrath, Robert (Sally) Honrath; daughter, Leanne Kollar and niece Lisa Erdos. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, February 11 ^th from 12-2 p.m. with a prayer service at 2:00 pm in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Interment will be private.
