Joseph Alfred Duguay, age 66 of Shelton, the beloved husband of Valerie Bielski Duguay, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Born and raised in Bridgeport to the late Joseph W. and Mary (Andrews) Duguay, Joe had been a 44 year resident of Milford prior to moving to Shelton a year ago. He attended Harding High School and joined the Marines in 1967. After the military he worked for Raybestos Manufacturing as a machine operator and a plant medic from 1970-1988. Joe was also the shift commander for Bridgeport Ambulance from 1980-1988 and was one of the first responders to the L'Ambiance Plaza Crash in 1987. From 1988-2009 he was a Corrections Officer for the State of Connecticut and was the Commander of the Honor Guard for the State of CT Department of Corrections. He was also 44-year member of the Milford Elks No 1589. Joe enjoyed years of boating on his boat "Crime Pays", he loved going with his son Joe to the ranges and target shooting, but most of all he loved time with his family and grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife of 47 years, Valerie, he is survived by his devoted children, Joseph Duguay and his wife Donna of Milford, and Denise Butt and her husband Eric of Orange, 4 cherished grandchildren, Alana, Joseph, Avery, and Mason, his sisters, Yvonne Schwarz and her husband Gary of Stratford and Alice Mizia of Trumbull, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister Annette Babin and his beloved Boxer Corbett to whom he will be re-united with. Respecting Joe's wishes funeral arrangements will be private, and have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
