Joseph S. Cieciorka, age 87 of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Tessie Prawdzik Cieciorka passed away on Friday February 20, 2009 in Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton. Mr. Cieciorka, a WW # II Veteran of the U.S. Army was born in Dickson City, Pennsylvania to the late Alexander and Mary (Sobkowiak) Cieciorka and has been a life long area resident except while living in Lady Lake, Florida from 1991 – 2006. He was a retired machinist for Nordon's, where he was a member of the retiree's club. He was also a member of VFW Post #8075 Seymour and the 11th Armored Division Association of Pennsylvania. Joe was an avid softball player until the age of eighty-five. Survivors include his beloved children Melvin Cieciorka of Naugatuck and Carol Hayduk and her husband Gary of Shelton, a brother Bernard Cieciorka and his wife Ann of Florida, 2 sisters Evelyn Ferko of Stratford and Theresa Socha and her husband Jerry of Milford and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday February 24, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will be in St. Michael's Cemetery Stratford.
