John Douglas (Doug) Wells V, age 63, of Stratford, beloved husband of Alynne Jefferies Wells, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2015. A native of Stratford, CT, Doug graduated Stratford High in 1969 and went on to a career in the Tool&Die industry, working at Auto Swage, Preferred Tool, and later at Tenet Design. From there he became a part owner of The Surfcaster, where he took his love and knowledge of fishing to serve many customers over the last 11 years. In addition to his beloved wife, survivors include his sons, Douglas and his wife Amanda Zuber Wells and Chris Wells, his grandson John Ryan, as well as his father John, and siblings Debbie Mlodzianowski (Paul), and Donna Wells (Don Ireland), and Derek Wells (Gail), mother-in-law Helen Mansfield, and sister-in-law Diana Anderson, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Irene Wells. Doug had an intense passion for fishing and the outdoors, of which many family and friends share fond memories of time spent with him on the water. He also enjoyed NASCAR Racing, but most of all, loved spending time with his family and grandson. The Wells family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Social Workers, and everyone else who cared for Doug at St. Joseph Manor and the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale. Friends may greet his family on Wednesday, May 6th from 4-7 pm in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. All other services and interment are private.
