John James "Yash" Skurjo, age 60, of Orange formerly of Stratford, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 in Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport to the late John and Laura (Leokadja) Skurjo Jr. he was a life long area resident, and was retired from the Gaynor Corporation located in Stratford. John was member of the VFW Post #9460 Men's Auxiliary located in Stratford and a past member of the Stratford Jaycees. John cherished spending time with his three lovely nieces Melissa, Tiffany and Nicole and really enjoyed going to the gym with his nieces in his final years. John was also a devoted music fan; if it was rock & roll, county or soul or anything in between he had their 45's, albums, tapes or cd's. John also spent a lot of time with his cousins in his younger years attending several concerts from New Haven to New York. John was also an avid U-Conn fan supporting the Men's, and especially the Women's basketball teams; more importantly to John, was being a die-hard N.Y. Yankee fan in which he attended many of their home games throughout the years. Survivors include his devoted brothers: Michael Robert Skurjo and his wife Elizabeth of Milford and Dennis James Skurjo of Orange and three cherished nieces Melissa, Tiffany and Nicole Skurjo all of Milford and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins located throughout the United States; in which, all will cherish the memories of time spent with him and his beloved pets Ryan and Roxy. John was predeceased by his loving parents John & Laura (Leokadja) Skurjo Jr. & Brother Robert Skurjo, his Paternal Grandparents John and Mary Skurja Sr., Maternal Grandparents Kazimier and Emily Jeronczyk. John's family would also like to express their thanks to the staff of Bridgeport Hospital's Medical ICU Unit & Lord Chamberlain's Rehabilitation Center for their care and devotion that they provided for John. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 8:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 9:00 am in St. James Roman Catholic Church on Main Street in Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7pm.
