Plavnicky
April 6, 1930 – January 15, 2022
John H. Plavnicky, age 91, beloved husband of Doris Plavnicky, passed away peacefully in his home in Stratford.
John was born to the late Michael and Katherine Plavnicky and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. John was a retired Cost Analyst from General Electric. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and supported his community through working with nonprofits, the Planning and Zoning Board and Little League.
He is survived by the love of his life, Doris, whose 64 year love story is an inspiration to all, his devoted sons and their wives, Michael and Joan Plavnicky of Florida, David and Karen Plavnicky of Stratford; four cherished grandchildren, Brian Plavnicky (Kody), Melinda Shelley (Jared), and Jordan and Charlene Plavnicky; a great-granddaughter Avery Shelley who is due to arrive in April; his sister in law Anna Plavnicky; several nieces, grand-niece, nephews and grand- nephew; and his faithful companion, Romeo.
The family would like to acknowledge that they are eternally grateful for the support and love extended by their extended family and friends throughout the years- with special mention to Judy and Tony Spera, Heather and Matt Mann, and Gina Curtin and family who have always been present in John's life.
A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated on January 21 st at 10 a.m. meeting directly at the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, 364 Mill Hill Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Masks are required for all services.
The Adzima Funeral Home- Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
