John Kuchmas, 91, of Trumbull, formerly of Olyphant, PA., died peacefully Friday morning October 5th at St. Vincent's Medical Center, following an illness. Born in 1921 in Blakely PA, son of the late William Wasyl and Anna Kranianski Kuchmas, he was educated in Olyphant schools. John was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Trumbull. He is a World War II Veteran, who served proudly in Europe and in England for the preparation of D-Day. After moving to CT he worked at Sprague Meters for several years and then he worked for Sikorsky Aircraft in Bridgeport, where he was employed for over Thirty-five years, prior to his retirement in 1993. Through his life, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, travel, good food, conversation, music, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his sense of humor, kindness, loyalty, and mechanical skills, and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his two sons; Bruce Kuchmas and his wife Nancy of Greenwood AR, and Brian Kuchmas and his wife Debbie of Beacon Falls, CT; a sister, Mary Robertson of Anchorage, Alaska; one granddaughter Sloane, and one great-granddaughter Aria; as well as many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William "Bill" Kuchmas II, formerly of Baltimore, MD, George Kuchmas, formerly of Dunmore, PA, and Michael "Mike" Kuchmas, formerly of Trumbull. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 10th at 11 AM in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave Trumbull. Private burial will take place at 11 AM on Friday in S.S. Cyril & Methodius Church Parish Cemetery, Peckville, PA. The Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
