John Kopchik, age 100, of Stratford, the beloved husband of 73 years to the late Helen (Mihalko) Kopchik, passed away on December 12, 2024 in Bishop Wickie Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shelton.

John was born in Ansonia on June 20, 1924 to the late Peter and Anna (Mizicko) Kopchik and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. John was a retired chemist and worked for the Bridgeport Brass Co, AVCO Lycoming and retired from Sikorsky Aircraft. He was an active member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport, and their Seniors Club. He was also a member of the Sikorsky Retirees Club, and the America-St. John's 8 lodge A.F. & A.M., the Lafeyette Consistory and the Pyramid Shrine. John enjoyed watching the UConn girl's basketball and the New York Yankees with his wife Helen.

Survivors include his devoted son, Jack Kopchik (Victoria Biello) of Woodbridge, son-in-law, Ken Kolkebeck (Mary) of New Jersey, cherished grandchildren, Keith Kolkebeck and his wife Jessica, Scott Kolkebeck and his wife Ann, Kurt Kopchik and his wife Jen and 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, John was pre-deceased by his daughters, Audrey Toigo and Shirley Kolkebeck, a brother, Peter Kopchik, and sisters, Anne Newton, Elizabeth Soltis and Mary Blakenship.

A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 18th at 11:30 a.m. at St. John's Orthodox Church 364 Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 10 am -11 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
