Obituary

John Frederick "Jack", age 73, of Stratford died on December 20, 2012 at his home in Stratford surrounded by his family. He was born in Bridgeport of the late James and Rosalie [Wilhelmy] Angeski. Jack was predeceased by his cherished first born child, Susan Lee (Angeski) Lewis. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ellen Marie (Gerte) Angeski, his children Linda Bass and her husband, Spencer, James Angeski and his wife, Beth, all of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Carolyn Kyzer, and her husband, George, of North Charleston, South Carolina, Daniel Angeski and his wife, Michele, Beth McCormick and her husband, Edward, all of Stratford; 11 grandchildren Spencer and Mitchell Bass of Tampa, Florida, Charlotte and Grace Angeski of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, George, John, and Matthew Kyzer of North Charleston, South Carolina, Alivia Barry and Bailey Angeski, and Daniel and Caitlin McCormick all of Stratford; his son-in-law Daniel Lewis of Edwardsville, Illinois; his sister Betty Baronowski and her husband Harry Paoletti of Stratford; and his brother-in-law Raymond F. Gerte and his wife Sandra, of Wilmington, North Carolina, along with several nieces, nephews, god-children, and a countless number of friends. Jack was a lifelong resident of Stratford, and along with his childhood best friend, the late James Donlan, was one of the 1st 10 year-olds to earn a position on Stratford's original Little League Team in 1949. He was a graduating member of Stratford High School's class of 1957 where he was a 3 time varsity letterman in football, baseball, and swimming. He would go on to attend and graduate from the University of Connecticut where he was a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity and was an All Time Letter Winner on UConn's football team in 1961. Jack was a fiercely loyal fan of all UConn sports, the NY Giants, and the NY Yankees and was proud of the fact he had watched ball played in all 3 Yankee Stadiums. His passion for the teams he held dear was shared with his wife, his children, and many of his grandchildren as well. Jack will be forever missed by his family and friends whose lives were forever influenced and blessed by his very own. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11:30 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial be held at 12 noon. in Saint James Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. Bruce Roby officiating. Interment will be private. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Those desiring may make donations in Jack's memory to the Susan Angeski Lewis Memorial Scholarships at Stratford High School or Frank Scott Bunnell High School, Stratford.
