John Robert Hmurcik, age 91, of Bridgeport, the beloved widower of Marie Jovia Hmurcik, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 in Bridgeport Hospital.  Born in Bridgeport to the late John and Theresa (Pekar) Hmurcik, he has been a life-long city resident. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII. John worked for Dictaphone and later Sikorsky Aircraft, where he was a blade assembler. Survivors include his devoted daughter, Lynn Evan and her husband Mark of Stratford, 5 cherished grandchildren, John Garrison, Brian and Danielle Evan, Matthew and Chelsea Hmurcik, 3 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Connor and Lucrezia, several nieces and nephews. In addition to wife and parents, John was predeceased by a son, Robert Hmurcik, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 9:15AM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Grace Church 497 Second Hill Lane Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 4-7PM.
