John J Grand, age 92 of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Helen Kopchik Grand, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 in the Jewish Home for the Elderly, Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport to the late John M. and Margaret (Gulash) Grand, he has been a life-long Trumbull resident. John a WWII Veteran of the United States Navy worked at Singer Manufacturing for twenty years and then at Simplex Tool and Die until his retirement. He was a devout Catholic, and was an usher at Christ the King Church in Trumbull. John was an avid golfer, a great fan of UCONN Basketball and loved to dance, especially the Polkas. In addition to his beloved wife and parents he was predeceased by, a brother Joseph R. Grand Sr, sisters, Frances Sobieraj and Anne Durica. John is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; who all knew him as "Uncle Jackie". John's family would like to thank the Nurses and Staff of the Jewish Home and Connecticut Hospice for their kind, loving and compassionate care. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10:15am in the Adzima Funeral Home. 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 11:00am in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Avenue, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Full Military Honors will take place in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 9:00am –10:15am.
