John Filakovsky Jr., age 95, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Mary Comandini Filakovsky, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. John, a retired Foreman for Hawie Manufacturing Company, was born in Bridgeport to the late John and Elizabeth (Sedlak) Filakovsky Sr., and has been a life long area resident. He was a carpenter by training, and built his own home and several others for family members. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed woodworking. He will be remembered for his warmth, his sparkling blue eyes and amazing smile, but most of all for being an extraordinary and devoted husband, father and friend. John was always there to help his family and friends in any way he could by giving his time and sharing his many abilities and talents. Survivors include his devoted son, John G. Filakovsky of Trumbull, sister-in-law Marie Filakovsky of Shelton, the two loving "daughters" that he never had, Donna and Kathy, a special friend Clay-dee Kochiss, a supportive niece and nephew, Tina, and Ron, and numerous other special nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, John was pre-deceased by his brothers, Mike and Bill, sisters, Ann Drabb, Mary Guman, Helen Kapral, Jeanne Stamos, and Betty Zacchia, and his lifelong friend Frank Kochiss. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 9th at 9:45 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford with Very Rev. David Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
