John Michael Enright, age 34 of Farmington, CT passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 after a 6-month battle with cancer.
John was born on July 12, 1990 in Bridgeport, CT to John Lewis and Susan McLoughlin Enright of Stratford, CT. He attended St. Mark School and Bunnell High School in Stratford, CT. He graduated with his Bachelors of Arts in Sports Communication from Marist College.
While at Marist, he met lifelong friends, and was a proud member of John Enright & His Merry Men intramural dodgeball team. Upon graduation, John went on to attain his dream job working at ESPN as a creative producer. John always said he grew up at ESPN and his best moments happened here, especially meeting his wife, Amanda Wagner Enright, an animator. The two were married on Cape Cod last year and he loved being a dad to their dog, Frito.
During his 12 years at ESPN, he managed the creative execution and strategy for productions ranging from Monday Night Football to NBA to SportsCenter. He came to work every day ready to bring people together. He had a special place in his heart for entry-level employees, whom he sought out and mentored. Beyond the five Emmys he won, his lasting legacy is the way he made time to help everyone, no matter what.
In his personal life, John was an avid sports fan – proudly rooting for the New England Patriots and his beloved Mets. He also lived for College Basketball season, waiting all year for March Madness. He enjoyed reading – his interests ranged from Star Wars to American history – and watching Marvel movies.
John will be remembered for his kind-hearted spirit and infectious laugh. He will also be remembered for his astounding humility throughout his short battle with cancer – he maintained his sweet smile and polite demeanor, holding steadfast to his fierce optimism until his very last breath.
He is survived by his wife Amanda of Farmington, his parents, John and Susan of Stratford, his brother Kevin and fiancé Samantha of Hamden, and his in-laws Alan and Kathleen of Lubbock, TX. He also leaves behind his precious dog Frito, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He is the grandson of the late John and Margaret Enright of Cos Cob, CT and the late Michael and Mary McLoughlin of Chappaqua, NY.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was loved dearly by family and friends.
