John G. Buynak Jr., age 93, of Stratford, beloved husband of Dorothy Selezan Buynak, passed away peacefully in his home on July 14, 2021.

John was born in Bridgeport on September 6, 1927, to the late John and Veronica (Zubricky) Buynak and had been a lifelong area resident. He attended Bridgeport Engineering Institute and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. John was a police officer for the City of Bridgeport, and later worked in security for Mechanics & Farmers Savings Bank. He was a life member of VFW Post 9460-Stratford and was also a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols.

Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 69 years, include his devoted children, Deborah Sullivan and her husband Joseph of Stratford, John G. Buynak III and his wife Kristi of Shelton, and Beverly Carbone and her husband Michael of Shelton, 5 cherished grandchildren, J.J. Sullivan, Katie Booth (Shawn), Brooke Joyce (Robert), John N. Buynak, Michael Carbone (Kelsie), a brother-in-law, sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was pre-deceased by his brother, Andrew Buynak, and sisters, Helen Buynak and Marion Gresko.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 23rd meeting directly at 11 a.m.in Our Lady Grace Church 497 Second Hill Lane Stratford. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
