Joan Cholko, 95, of Huntington, CT. died peacefully under hospice care at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. on Saturday, July 13. She was born in Bridgeport, CT. on December 22, 1917, the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Czarnota. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alphonse F. Cholko and all of her siblings – eight sisters and one brother. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her three children; Robert F. Cholko and his wife Marie of Ridgefield, CT., Carol Cholko Hayes and her husband Richard Neil Hayes,Jr. of Huntington, CT., and Patricia Cholko Wilson and her husband David of Milford, CT.; her eight grandchildren, Michael, Christopher and Kathryn Cholko, Claire Hayes and R.Neil Hayes III, and Kevin Wilson, Elizabeth Bello, and Amy Wilson; and her one great grandchild, Jack Bello and several nieces and nephews. The Cholko family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Apple Rehab, Shelton Lakes, in Shelton, CT. and especially to Joan's dear friend there, Noreen Labranche. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday July 20 at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave. Shelton, CT 06484. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Rd. Trumbull, CT 06611. At the family's request calling hours have been omitted.
