Joan K. Cronan, age 83, of Guilford, beloved wife of Wayne N. Cronan, passed away after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family, on September 20, 2018 at the Guilford House Health Center. Joan was born in West Haven on January 25, 1935 to the late Edward and Margaret (Gilbride) Killnan and had been a long time Westbrook and Clinton resident. She was a 1953 graduate of West Haven High School. Joan served for a number of years in the Westbrook Public School System, and worked for First Federal Savings and Loan Association, as well as a local physician's office for many years. In addition to her beloved husband of 60 years, Joan is survived by her devoted sons, Michael Cronan (AnneMarie) of Middlesex, New Jersey, Brian Cronan (Maria) of Mt. Pleasant South Carolina, and Steven Cronan of Clinton CT, 7 cherished grandchildren, Matthew (Janna), Kevin, James, Kylie, Emma, Finn, and Shayla, a beloved sister, Patricia Young, a cousin, George Gustin (Ingrid), nephews Bernard McDermott (Angela) and Bernard McDermott Jr. Joan was predeceased by her granddaughter Madeline Cronan. Joan enjoyed spending winters in Florida, traveling, and trips to the casino. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 27 th at 11:30 a.m. meeting directly at St. Mark Church 222 McVeagh Road Westbrook. Inurnment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook. Friends may greet Joan's family on Thursday from 10 –11 a.m. in the church hall prior to the services. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make a donation in memory of Joan to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home- Stratford.
