Jennie Cristino ("Aunt Jennie"), age 96, of Stratford, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in her home, with her beloved sister Chris by her side. Jennie, a homemaker, was born in Bridgeport on November 27, 1917 to the late Alfred and Lucia (Ferrara) Cristino, and has been a life long area resident. Jennie enjoyed crocheting blankets for family and friends, and donated many through the years to Project Linus at Holy Name of Jesus, and to Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang. She was a sweet and kindhearted person, who was loved by all. Jennie an avid fan of the New York Yankees also enjoyed her Casino trips. Jennie's family would like to thank her many caregivers, and a special thank you to her personal aide Shayna Rodriguez, for her kind and loving care. Survivors include her devoted sisters, Lillian Carrara, Edith Roviello, and Antoinette (Chris) Cristino all of Stratford, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her sisters, Rose Sportini, Betty Ducey, and Maria Kilgore,Rita Cristino, and brothers, Anthony Christino and Joseph Cristino. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 7th at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church 1950 Barnum Avenue Stratford. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. At the family's request calling hours have been omitted.
