Jean (Jane) Nerkowski Vitko, age 85 of Apollo Beach, Florida, formerly of Stratford, the widow of Albert J. Vitko, passed away peacefully into the house of the Lord on Monday May 16, 2011 in Palm Gardens Health Center, Sun City, Florida. Jane was a loving mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She made our lives complete. She will be missed dearly and forever live in our hearts and minds. A retired unit secretary for Bridgeport Hospital, she was born in Bridgeport to the late Frank and Leonora (Lemanski) Nerkowski and had been a life long area resident moving to Tucson, Arizona in 2002 and then to Apollo Beach in 2005. Survivors include her beloved sons James Vitko and his wife Teresa of California, and Albert Vitko and his wife Dr. Julie Vitko of Florida, her cherished grandson Joseph of Florida, a sister-in-law Irene Nerkowski of Seymour, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband and parents she was pre-deceased by her siblings Leon, Edward, and Frank Nerkowski, Genevieve Humenick, and Czeslawa (Jessie) Fusco. Funeral services will take place on Saturday May 21st at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 5-7 p.m.
