Jean Joan Sagliano Koziel passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, after living 97 years filled with life and love.

Born on February 11, 1927, in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppina Piccirillo Sagliano and Generoso Sagliano and is one of six siblings. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Koziel, Sr. with whom she shared an amazing 72 years of marriage.

Jean was also a beloved mother and is survived by her two children, Deborah MacLennan (Lawrence) and Richard Koziel, Jr. (Mary). Jean also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jessica Apicella (Joe), Ryann Fortier (Rich), Corey MacLennan, and Brandon Koziel (Megan) as well as four great-grandchildren, Daniel and Emme Fortier and Oliver and Eleanor Apicella.

Jean worked for many years at both BIC and Warnaco before retiring and becoming the world's best babysitter for her many grandchildren. Whether it was preparing a holiday feast or a regular weeknight dinner, Jean would often be found wearing a colorfully patterned apron cooking in the kitchen. And somehow never following an actual recipe (or one that she was willing to share), she always made sure everyone was full and happy. Taking care of others truly brought her joy, and her loved ones will greatly miss her storytelling and one-of-a-kind sense of humor.

The family would also like to extend a special appreciation to Maia Miqadze, Nini Grant, Nadia Kopaleishvili, and the staff at Orange Health Care Center for all of the loving care and support they have provided to Jean and our family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT. A graveside prayer service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
