Janet T Zorka, age 71, of Bridgeport, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on September 3, 1944 to Kay Nykorchuk Zorka and the late John M. Zorka, she has lived in New Hampshire for the past 25 years returning to Bridgeport in July. She graduated from the University School, attended the Traphagen School of Fashion Design in NY, Sacred Heart University, and then graduated from Bullard Havens with a degree in nursing. Janet, who devoted her life to helping people, worked for both Bridgeport Hospital and Northbridge Convalescent Home for several years before moving to New Hampshire where she worked as a private duty nurse for many years until she became ill. She was a member St. Mary's Church and she loved spending time with all the animals on her farm. Survivors in addition to her mother include her beloved sister, Kathleen Danilowicz and her husband Michael of Stratford, 3 Godchildren, Tamara, Aleksandr and John, aunts, Millie Buskey of Stratford and Dorothy Lewis of South Carolina, cousins, Patty Scott and her husband Dave, Katherine Corum, Walter Pittam, Linda Young and her husband Richard and several other cousins. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 9:15 am in the Adzima Funeral 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:00 am in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 10 Oakwood Street, Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery, 500 Moose Hill Rd, Monroe. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Panakhyda will be at 6:30pm.
