Obituary

Janet M. Vagnini passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on May 31, 1945, Janet was the beloved daughter of the late George and Mary Montambo. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Vagnini; her beloved daughter, Stacy Vagnini; and her brother-in-law, Wayne.

Janet will be remembered for her selfless heart, quick wit, fierce determination, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She possessed incredible strength and had a special way of making everyone feel like family. Her warmth, humor, and unmistakable spirit left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

At the heart of Janet’s life was her beloved daughter, Stacy. The love and devotion she gave to Stacy throughout her life knew no limits. In caring for her, Janet showed all of us the true meaning of unconditional love, strength, and devotion—a beautiful example that will remain with our family always.

Janet was especially proud of her time as a member of the Park City Pride Color Guard, where she rekindled a passion she first discovered in high school. She loved performing, being part of the group, and sharing that experience with her family who proudly cheered her on.

Janet shared a unique and special bond with her sister and best friend, Susan, and was fond of Susan’s partner, Frank. She dearly loved her brother, Raymond, and his wife, Karen.

Janet leaves behind her loving daughters, Lisa Kalafus and her husband, Chris, whom she affectionately called her “Sonny Boy”, and Gina Vagnini and her partner, Steve.

Throughout Janet’s final months, Gina devoted herself to caring for her mother at home, with Lisa always there to love and support them both. Together, along with family and cherished friends, surrounded Janet with tenderness and unconditional love.

Janet was an immensely proud grandmother to Alissa (Mike), Caitlin, Carly (Paul), Cori, Molly, and Ellie, and a devoted great-grandmother to Jake, Charlie, Lily, and Carter.

She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Janet found great comfort in the companionship of her beloved family pets, especially Stella, who remained faithfully by her side during her final moments.

The family would like to thank Yves and Steve of VITAS Hospice for their compassion and guidance; Wanda and MaryBeth, whose tender care allowed Janet to remain in the comfort of her own home, with Wanda by her side until her final moments; to Deacon Tim, whose visits and prayers brought peace and comfort to Janet and her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Janet’s memory in the way she lived. Love unconditionally and cherish every moment with your loved ones.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and greet Janet’s family on Friday, August 14th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Adzima Funeral Home. All remaining services will be held privately by the family.
