Jane (Kay) Resel Doherty, age 82, of Stratford, widow of Peter Doherty, passed away on Wednesday November 2, 2011 in her home. Mrs. Doherty, a retired bookkeeper for Shoe Mart was born in Bridgeport to the late Frank and Agnes (Morrissey) Resel, and has been a life long area resident. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, and Circle of Friends at St. Mark's Church, the Gaelic Club, and was a volunteer at Lord Chamberlain HCC, Stratford. Kay was happiest when spending time with her beloved family, which includes her devoted children Michael Doherty and his wife Karen of New Jersey, Karen Morey and her husband Kevin of Trumbull, Peter Doherty and his wife Maureen of Stratford, and Cathy Doherty of Milford, 9 grandchildren Jennifer Demers and her husband Andrew, Michele Doherty, Shannon Sampar and her husband Michael, Meghan, and Colleen Morey, Peter Doherty and his wife Amy Allen, Ryan Doherty, David and Emily Donofrio, a sister Ann Valentine of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday November 4th at 10 a.m. in St. Mark's Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford. Interment will be in Putney Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday (TODAY) from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
