Jan (John) P. Mysliwiec, age 74, of Shelton, beloved husband of Donna Kulesza Mysliwiec, passed away on May 7, 2022, in his home with family by his side.
John was born in Poland on April 6, 1948 to Jadwiga Osakowicz Mysliwiec of Bridgeport and the late Stanislaw Mysliwiec and had been a long time area resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War in the 173rd Airborne Brigade and was a recipient of a Purple Heart Medal for his actions in war. John was a retired machinist for Sikorsky Aircraft and was a member of the White Eagle Society of Brotherly Help, the Polish Army Veterans Associates, and the Polish Youth Circle.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 44 years and his mother include his devoted children, Vanessa Mazanowicz and her husband Krzysztof of Stratford, Michael Mysliwiec and his wife Alyssa of Shelton, 3 cherished grandchildren, Paxton, Claire, and Hunter, brothers, Henry Mysliwiec of Bridgeport, Zygmunt Mysliwiec and his wife Diane of Shelton, sisters, Marianne Papastavros of Bridgeport, Helen Palavra and her husband Tom of Bridgeport, and Jadwiga Chmiel and her husband Marian of Bridgeport and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Kamila Mysliwiec and his nephew, Zygmunt Mysliwiec II.
The family would also like to thank the caring staff at the West Haven VA Hospital, especially Dr. Talib Dosani and ATU nurses, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Alyssa. John will be best remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, and charming personality. John enjoyed entertaining those he loved at his home, playing cards with family and friends, dancing, and going on vacations.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 12th at 10 a.m. meeting directly at St. Michael the Archangel Church 310 Pulaski Street Bridgeport. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe.
