James Joseph Vancho, age 80, of Stratford, and husband of the late Beverly (Costanzo) Vancho, passed away in his home on Monday, October 17, 2022. Jim was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 30, 1942, to the late Nicholas and Rose (Chatlos) Vancho and has been a lifelong area resident. After graduating from Harding High School, he served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his time serving his country and leveraged his military experience into a career in national defense. Most notably, he spent twenty-eight years working for Norden Systems in Norwalk, CT where he worked until retirement. Living so close to Long Island Sound, he had a passion for activities by the water, spending countless hours fishing, boating, or just relaxing on the beach with family and friends. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed studying about the weather and astronomy. He enjoyed hosting holiday dinners, serving up clams casino and stuffed lobster tails, which were family favorites. More recently after his wife passed way, Jim spent more time with his children and grandchildren, enjoying Friday night pizzas and Sunday dinners while watching football or baseball games. Survivors include his devoted children, James Vancho and his wife Lisa of Fairfield, and Catherine Vancho and her husband Charles Lupo of Milford, his cherished grandchildren, Logan, Sophia, Olivia, and Kayleigh, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved parents, Jim was pre-deceased by his brother Nicholas Vancho and his sister Mary Spadolino. Friends and family may visit on Monday, October 24, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Ann Church 501 Naugatuck Ave, Milford, CT. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT.
