James C. Gibbons Jr. age 70 of Stratford passed away on Tuesday October 9, 2007 in his home surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Jim, a veteran of the U.S. Air force, was born in Bridgeport to the late James C. and Elta (Planz) Gibbons and has been a life long Stratford resident. He was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after 45 years of service. He was an ultimate family man; his biggest joy was spending time with his family, summer family vacations and celebrating the holidays with his family. He was a former coach for Stratford P.A. L girls little league, a founder and organizer of the first Bunnell High School "Cavalcade of Bands" competition, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years Marilyn Ockovitz Gibbons, 5 devoted children Jill M. Gibbons of New Jersey, Lynn M. Georgetti and her husband Michael of Milford, Sandra A. Gibbons, Karen P. Gibbons both of Stratford and James C. Gibbons III of Staten Island, NY, 3 cherished grandchildren who brought joy to his life Anthony, Gina and Jason Georgetti, a sister-in-law Dorothy Nowosacki of Monroe, a brother-in-law William T. Browne of Stratford, 2 brothers Ted Gibbons and his wife Diana of Australia and Phillip Gibbons and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister Elta Jean Gibbons. Funeral services will take place on Friday October 12th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Trumbull. Friends may call on Thursday (TODAY) from 4-7 p.m.
