James W. Derbyshire, age 74, of New Milford, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026. 

Jim was born in Bridgeport on January 25, 1952, beloved son of Eleanor (Sebas) Derbyshire and the late Arthur W. Derbyshire. He was a graduate of Bunnell High School, class of 1970 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Connecticut State College. Jim became an Eagle Scout while with Troop 75 in Stratford, CT. James was a meteorologist who was on the radio for many years and worked with Dr. Mel Goldstein. James always had a love for music. James was the former owner of Soundtrack DJ Services.

 Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his brothers, Paul M. Derbyshire of Franklin, MA; Thomas A. Derbyshire and wife Ally of Stratford; Andrew M. Derbyshire and wife Eva of Ansonia; Glenn A. Derbyshire of Willimantic; and George W. Derbyshire and wife Michele of Ansonia, and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation on Friday, September 4th from 9:30 -11 a.m. at the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, with a prayer service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
