Jacqueline Stewart Banik, age 89, of Stratford, beloved wife of Michael Banik passed away on November 25, 2017 in Whitney Manor HCC, Hamden. Jackie, a former "Mrs. Connecticut" was born on January 23, 1928 in East Millinocket, Maine to the late Albert and Laura (Dempsey) Stewart and has been a long time area resident. She was a graduate of Booth & Bayless Business School and was a former office manager for Dr. Y.M. Naci. Jackie was an active parishioner of the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, a member of the "R" Club and Seniors Group. Survivors in addition to her beloved husband, include her devoted son, Robert Banik and his wife Denise and their sons, Jason and Jordan of Hamden, her granddaughter, Kristen Palumbo and her husband Nicholas, son-in-law Holgar Haffke, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jackie was pre-deceased by her beautiful children, Debra, Michael and Donna-Jo who she was anxiously waiting to be re-united with; also her brother Joseph Stewart and sister, Merilyn Horan. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 30 ^th at 10:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11 a.m. in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
