W. Irene (Rymszewicz) Izdebski, 91, of Stratford, CT and formerly of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2010, at the Lord Chamberlain Rehab and Nursing Center. Born in New Bedford on January 10, 1919 to the late Stanislaw and Maryann (Rutkowska)Rymszewicz. She was married to the late John Izdebski who passed away in 1980. Irene's late son , Thomas, died at age 11 in 1961.She is survived by her beloved daughter Peggy Quiricone and her husband, Gary; four grandsons: Michael, Rick and his wife Ashley, Ken and Brian, all of Stratford, CT. She was educated in New Bedford schools and was employed at States Nitewear and at New York Bridal Salon. She was a volunteer nurse's aid from 1942 to 1947 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford during WW II. She organized the girl scout troop at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and was active in the parish. She was past president of OLPH Church Society and WW II Polish American Veterans Auxiliary. In 1989, she received the Marian Medal, the award is in recognition of dedication and loyal service of one's Church. She moved to Stratford in 1992 to be near her family. The family would like to thank the second floor staff for all the love and care Irene received while at Lord Chamberlain. Visitation will be Friday morning only 8 AM to 9:30 AM at Rock Funeral Home 1285 Ashley Blvd New Bedford, MA, followed by her Funeral Mass at OLPH Church at 10 AM. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford. Friends may greet her family on Wednesday (Today) from 4-8 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
