Irene J. "Honey" Hanley, age 90, of Stratford, the beloved widow of Atty. J Russell Hanley, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016 in the Jewish Home for the Elderly. Irene was born in Old Forge, PA to the late Michael and Anna (Markovich) Dankulich, and has been a long time Stratford resident. She worked for General Electric, and Howland's Department Store, and also owned a collection agency and worked for her late husband's Law Office. She enjoyed shopping, knitting, cooking, baking, and doing crosswords. Irene also loved dancing and to vacation in California, Florida, Maine and Cape Cod. She will be remembered as a caring and generous person. Survivors include her loving sister, Mary Bednarz; nieces and nephews, Marcia Thrush and her husband Steve of Shelton, Ronald Bednarz and his wife Estelle of Stratford, Stephen Bednarz and his wife Cathy of Fountain Hills, AZ, Kathleen Krochko and her husband Joseph of Milford, Michael Dankulich and his wife MaryEllen of Trumbull, and Richard Dankulich and his wife Marianne of Stratford. Irene was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Riffon, Anna Bobrowski and brother John Dankulich. Irene's family would like to thank the staff on Bennett 3 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly for their care and compassion. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 9:30am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 10:00am in St Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 8:30-9:30am.
