While enlisted, Hugh and his identical twin brother George had fun confusing the commanding officers. Upon returning from the service, Mr. Wood was employed briefly at General Electric before transferring to Avco-Lycoming, where he started as a printer. He ended his career forty -two years later as Reproduction Services Manager. Hugh's real passions were sports and music. As a boy he sung locally with his twin brother and continued his passion into retirement, singing with two barbershop quartets. He enjoyed his time as sexton at St. John's Russian Orthodox Church and singing responses to the daily service, and was also a founding member of St. John's Male Chorus. The highlight of his music career was singing at Carnegie Hall. In sports, while working at the Bridgeport Boys Club, he coached two teams to state basketball championships.
