Helen Plavcan, age 87, of Stratford, the widow of Michael Plavcan passed away on Friday, July 10, 2009 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Plavcan a retired Electrical Assembler with Fairmont in Bridgeport, was born in Visna Pisano, Czechoslovakia to the late Peter and Anna (Stefanisko) Kostik and she has been a long time area resident. She was a member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist Bridgeport, where she was a member of the Mothers and Daughters Club and the Seniors. Survivors include her devoted daughter Helen Villarreal of Stratford, her cherished granddaughters Jennifer Villarreal-Morrison and her husband Gregory and Rebecca Villarreal, her former son-in-law Fred Villarreal all of San Antonio, Texas; a sister Paraska Yurcisin of Slovakia; 2 cousins Mary Stefanisko Gagan and Helen Stefanisko and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Andrew Kostik and a sister Maria Panko. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the doctors and caregivers especially Dr. Karine Toumanian for all of the care and kindness extended to Helen. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford.
