Helen Mikulski Lupo, age 87, of Derby, the widow of Salvatore Lupo, passed away on Monday August 22, 2011 in Griffin Hospital. Mrs. Lupo, a retired employee of Philips Medical, Shelton was born in Massachusetts to the late Sylvester and Anna (Haczala) Mikulski and has been a long time area resident. Helen was an avid bingo player and loved to crochet and donated many of her works to charity and local nursing homes. Survivors include her beloved sons James Lupo and his wife Deborah of Monroe, William Lupo of Derby, and Edward Lupo and his wife Nicole of Henderson, NV, a daughter, 4 cherished grandchildren Tonya, Sarah, Michael and Daniel, a sister Valencia Balog of Fairfield, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, and parents, she was pre-deceased by a daughter Sandra Lupo. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday August 24th at 11 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may donations in Helen's memory to the Wounded Warriors or to a Veteran's organization of choice.
