Helen Semanchik Karabinos, age 96, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late William Karabinos, passed away on May 24, 2017 in Cambridge Manor, Fairfield. Helen, a retired employee of Handy & Harman, was born in Bridgeport on January 16, 1921 to the late John and Anna (Kachmarik) Semanchik and has been a life long area resident. Helen was a member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport where she was a former financial secretary; she was also a member of the Women's Council of Orthodox Churches. Helen played Bridge for over thirty-five years and made many life long friends, she had a passion for words and numbers, which tied in to her love of bridge and Scrabble. She enjoyed dancing and whoever partnered her, were always amazed that she danced like a feather. Helen took many trips to shows and plays in New York City, and to eat at great restaurants. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Survivors include her devoted daughters, Joanne Like and Andrea Pimenta and her husband Casey all of Fairfield, her grandson, Dean Pimenta and his wife Molly of New York, and her cherished great-granddaughters, Celia and Hadley, her sister, Anna Tvardzik of Trumbull and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 30th at 10:30am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11 am in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in memory of Helen to St. John's Church.
