Helen Korsnak Gurg, age 103 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Michael Gurg, passed away on May 2, 2017 in the Carolton Convalescent Home, Fairfield. Helen, a retired employee of the American Fabrics Company, was born in Bridgeport to the late John and Helen (Kocsmansky) Korsnak, and has been a life long area resident. She enjoyed cooking and baking, but most of all she loved spending time with her beloved family. Survivors include her devoted daughter, Barbara Pennell and her husband George, grandson, Scott Pennell and his wife Nubia, and their children, Micaela and Matias all of Fairfield, and granddaughter, Ariane Swift and her husband James, and their children, Bradley and Gavin of Milford. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Helen was pre-deceased by her brothers, John and George Korsnak, and sisters, Margaret Marks, and Mary "Merky" Andreoli. Helen's family would like to thank the members of Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church and the staff of the Carolton Convalescent Home for their kind and loving care. Friends are invited to attend Helen's funeral service on Saturday, May 6 ^th at 11:00 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford officiated by Very Rev. Peter Paproski. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Visitation on Saturday from 10-11 a.m.
