Helen R. Dobosz passed away peacefully in her home on December 17, 2012. Helen, the daughter of the late Frank and Alois Riha, was born on March 25, 1918 in Chicago Illinois. In her youth she was an outstanding athlete participating in many sports, specializing in swimming and softball where she won many awards. After graduating from high school she joined the Women's Army Air Corps, a service to her country during World War II that she was very proud of for the remainder of her life. During this service she met her loving husband of 64 years, the late Walter A. Dobosz. At the conclusion of the war they returned to Connecticut ultimately settling in the Lordship section of Stratford where they resided in the same home for 58 years. Helen loved her home and spent many happy years there with her husband, children and grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than gathering everyone together for family celebrations finishing the day with a very competitive game of Pinochle. Helen is survived by her devoted daughter Eloise Grabowski and her husband Ronald, their daughter Jennifer Swanson and her husband Jeffery and their son Robert Grabowski, her son Walter Dobosz and his daughter Laura Dobosz. The family would like to thank the entire Torres family, especially Maria and Diana, and Millie Pabon and Kristina McNerney, who provided loving care for our Mother until the very end of her life. Words cannot express how we feel about these incredible women. Our Mother loved them and they loved her proving that angels do walk amongst us. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, and 279 New Britain Rd , Kensington , CT 06037 or www.alzct.org Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 9:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:00 am in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist Church, 364 Mill Hill Ave, Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service officiated by the V.
