Helen D. Barbuschak Cipkala, age 84, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Shelton, beloved wife of Jan Cipkala, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Tidewell Hospice House in Bradenton, Florida. Helen was born on November 12, 1932 in Stratford to the late Stephen and Mary (Sivec) Barbuschak, and had been a longtime Shelton resident, prior to moving to Florida thirty years ago. She retired as office manager and partner in her family's business, Liberty Tool and Model Co. of Milford. Helen was very artistic and enjoyed oil painting, and was a former Girl Scout leader. In her retirement, Helen traveled with her husband and friends to destinations all over the world. She volunteered teaching English as a second language, and was a member of the Lady Shriners. Helen's favorite pastimes included crossword puzzles, knitting, playing card games and dominoes with her family and friends. Her smile was ever present and her loving and optimistic attitude was evident to all who knew her. Survivors in addition to her beloved husband, include her devoted daughters, Claudia Kuchta of Oxford, and Nancy Kunzik of Seymour, her cherished grandchildren, Lauren (Jeff) Silberkleit, Kimberly Kunzik, Theodore Kunzik Jr, and Matthew Kuchta. In addition to her parents, Helen was pre-deceased by her beloved son, Donald, brother, Walter Barbuschak, and sisters, Margaret Baldwin and Irene Barbuschak. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 11 ^th at 10 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10:30 a.m. in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford.
