Helen J. Calzati, age 92, of Stratford, the beloved widow of Peter Michael Calzati Sr. passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born in Bridgeport to the late Michael and Susan (Philesko) Kepchar, she was a graduate of Warren Harding High School class of 1941 and has been a longtime resident of Stratford. She was a member of the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport, she loved trips to the casino's and playing weekly Bingo at the Baldwin Senior Center in Stratford. Helen was the matriarch of the family who always put family, friends and her church first. Survivors include her devoted daughters, Donna Calzati Jersey of Milford, and Sandra Calzati Shokite of Milford, 6 cherished grandchildren, Renee Giordano and her husband Mike, Ronald Jersey and Brenda, Brian Jersey, Stephen Jersey and Katie, Jessica Calzati and Michael Calzati. 2 great-grandchildren, Logan and Taylor Berko and a niece Susan Wisniewski. In addition to husband and parents, Helen was predeceased by a baby son Thomas Calzati, a son Peter M. Calzati Jr. 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Mary Homick and Ann Miranti. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March13th at 10:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11:30 a.m. in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport, for a Requiem Funeral Service. Entombment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Panachida services will be at 3 p.m. Those desiring may make donations in Helen's Memory to St. John's Church.
