Harry (LUKE) Lukachik, age 89 of Stratford passed away on Sunday December 19, 2010 in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Harry, a retired Broker/Financial Analyst for Payne-Weber, Fairfield was born in Bridgeport to the late Harry and Rose (Dyczka) Lukachik and has been a long time area resident. Mr. Luke, a graduate of Harding High School and Boston College Class of 1943 began his career as a Radio broadcaster in 1947 in Norton, Virginia, before being hired in 1948 by NBC affiliate WMBG as a Radio record and sports announcer. He returned to Bridgeport in 1952 to join WICC and became part of a personality programming line up. In 1954 he then moved to WNAB also of Bridgeport, where he was appointed program director, and was known for his afternoon show "Swing Angel" a music and quiz show. He was the broadcast director for several sports tournaments in the area. In 1961 he switched careers to become a stockbroker-broadcaster. Harry was a lifetime member of St. John's Church and was a member of the Bridgeport and Stratford Old-timers Athletic Associations. Survivors include his daughter Roxanne Lukachik, a granddaughter Samantha, a sister Carol Lee and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was pre deceased by his, daughter Roberta, his brothers Alexander and William Lukachik and a sister Mary Lou Faulkner. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday December 22nd at 9:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 8:30 –9:30 a.m.
