Harriet Blaschke Hron, 90, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26th, 2008. She was predeceased by her sisters Lydia Corris and Lillian Iverson, and her brothers Gerhard and Edward Blaschke. Born on May 11, 1918 to Adolph and Emilie (Mueller) Blaschke, Harriet grew up on Webster Avenue in the East End of Bridgeport. She loved the water and reveled in frequent fishing and clamming expeditions to Long Island Sound. At the age of 16, she began a career at General Electric, where she rose to the position of supervisor. Harriet helped to build some of the first radio sets. During WWII and after, she constructed some of the earliest RADAR and TV sets. Harriet left GE to raise a family. Beloved wife of the late Charles Hron, she is survived by two loving daughters: Christine Alesevich, and her husband Sam, of Shelton; and Charlene Hron and her husband William Weigle, of Monroe. Harriet is also survived by five precious grandchildren: Christopher Alesevich, Mandarin scholar and recent graduate of the University of Southern California; Elizabeth Hron Alesevich, student of architecture at Philadelphia University; Emily Hron Weigle, Presidential Scholar and incoming freshman to the University of Southern California; Charles Hron Weigle, computer wiz and rising freshman at Masuk High School; and Caroline Hron Weigle, inquisitive scholar and also an incoming freshman to Masuk High School. After raising her family, Harriet returned to work as the head cashier in the Phillips Medical Systems cafeteria. Proud Prussian to the end, Harriet loved history, and was an avid reader. She loved caring for her family and was and excellent cook. Friends may call Sunday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Monday, a funeral procession at 8:45 AM will depart from Adzima's Funeral Home to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5995 Main Street, Trumbull 06611 where a service will begin at 9:30 AM. Internment will be in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or KidsCount, 167 Cherry Street, Milford, CT 06460.
