Gustave W. Kaczvinsky, age 89 of Monroe formerly of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Anna Jakupkovic Kaczvinsky, passed away on February 22, 2015 in his home, with his loving family by his side. Born in Hastings on the Hudson, NY to the late Rudolph and Anna (Talian) Kaczvinsky, he moved to Bridgeport as a teenager, meeting his future wife soon thereafter. Married in 1954, they spent they next forty years creating a beautiful, loving family. Together they loved traveling, dancing, and enjoying their family and friends. He was a WWII Veteran, of the US Army, Member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol Group 2, Assembly 308, and the Plavecky Society, serving in various committee positions. Gus was very proud of his Slovak heritage and tried to keep the traditions alive within his family. He loved sitting on the front porch, in the sun, or in front of a roaring fire, with a cup of tea and a good piece of nut roll or pagachi. Beloved father of; Joyce Frame and her husband Douglas of AZ, Cheryl Greenwood and her husband David of Southbury, Susan Kaczvinsky of Shelton, Kim Barnett, his devoted caretaker, and her husband Dennis of Monroe, grandfather to; Kyle and Bryan Frame, Jessica, Ashley and Brendan Greenwood, Nicholas, Chelsea, Matthew and Evan Barnett. Also survived by his brother; Joseph Kaczvinsky Sr. of Ohio, brother-in-law; William Jakupkovic of Stratford and many loved nieces and nephews. He loved his grandchildren, and could often be found dancing with the girls or throwing balls with the boys. The phrase that his children will always remember from "Steve" is "turn out the lights!" We miss you already Dad!
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 10:00AM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and at 11AM in St Jude Church Monroe for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Full Military Honors will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-7PM.
