Antignani
July 29, 1935 – April 17, 2022
Gloria Riseley Antignani, 86, of Stratford, CT and Wilmington, VT, passed peacefully into eternal rest, surrounded by her beloved family, on the morning of Easter Sunday. She was the daughter of the late Egbert Riseley and Margaret Riseley (Chehy) of Kingston, NY. She was the widow of Serafin "Sal" Antignani, with whom she shared a passion for sacred music. She met the love of her life while they were rehearsing in the Oratorio Choir at the First Congregational Church in Stratford.They were married for 48 years until his passing in 2006.
Gloria received her bachelors from New Haven States Teachers College (now SCSU), masters from Fairfield University, and Sixth Year from St. Joseph's College. She taught elementary school for Trumbull and Stratford Public Schools serving at Wilcoxson Elementary School for more than 30 years.
Gloria had many loves in her life including music, poetry, cooking, baking and teaching. Her students would often find her reciting poetry or breaking out in song during the middle of lessons. Music took Gloria and Sal singing in churches around the world. Vermont was a special place to Gloria and Sal, where they built a second home to share with their family. Gloria was an extraordinary home cook and would think nothing of serving sit down meals for 30 people.
She is survived by her children, Laura and Paul Hoydick of Stratford, Mark and Donna Antignani of Pelham, NC, Lisa Holt and Stephen Antignani, both also of Stratford. Her grandchildren, Brooke and Stephen Prusaczyk, Jillian and Asa Routledge, Paige Hoydick, Michael and Christina Antignani, Anthony Antignani, Eric Antignani, USN, Lauren Holt and Michael Holt
Her great-grandchildren, Jonathan Paul and Violet Riseley Prusaczyk, and Natalie Rose Antignani. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Chehy of Stratford, sister-in-law Rosemary Antignani, cousin Nancy McBrien and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Paul Antignani.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 A.M., at the First Congregational Church, 2301 Main Street, Stratford, officiated by the Rev. Edward Rawls. Friends and family may call at the church prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Entombment will be privately held at the convenience of the family.
