Obituary

Gloria Riseley Antignani, 86, of Stratford, CT and Wilmington, VT, passed peacefully into eternal rest, surrounded by her beloved family, on the morning of Easter Sunday. She was the daughter of the late Egbert Riseley and Margaret Riseley (Chehy) of Kingston, NY. She was the widow of Serafin "Sal" Antignani, with whom she shared a passion for sacred music. She met the love of her life while they were rehearsing in the Oratorio Choir at the First Congregational Church in Stratford. They were married for 48 years until his passing in 2006.

Gloria received her bachelors from New Haven States Teachers College (now SCSU), masters from Fairfield University, and Sixth Year from St. Joseph's College. She taught elementary school for Trumbull and Stratford Public Schools serving at Wilcoxson Elementary School for more than 30 years.

Gloria had many loves in her life including music, poetry, cooking, baking and teaching. Her students would often find her reciting poetry or breaking out in song during the middle of lessons. Music took Gloria and Sal singing in churches around the world. Vermont was a special place to Gloria and Sal, where they built a second home to share with their family. Gloria was an extraordinary home cook and would think nothing of serving sit down meals for 30 people.
