BECKMANN – Gerhard "Jerry" Beckmann, age 72, of Branford, departed this life on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in his home. Born in Berlin, Germany on January 24, 1934 to his dearly loved parents, the late Walli Kamauf and Karl Beckmann. He emigrated to America in May of 1957, Jerry joined the U.S.Army in July of 1957 and faithfully served his new country for two years with his closest friend and fellow countryman Jack Schubert. On September 6 of 1962, Jerry proudly raised his hand as an American Citizen for the first time. As a new citizen of the U.S. Jerry made friends everywhere he went and soon met the woman who would become his wife and the mother of his children; quickly found employment as a waiter at Fagan's Restaurant in Stratford, but soon after, began a career in the newly developing computer industry, This new career would also prove to be his life's passion. Jerry Became one of the early pioneers in the fast growing computer industry, solving complex business problems for B.F. Goodrich and Yale University. Our father and dear friend loved life, laughter and being in the company of his family and friends. No words can describe how much he will be missed. Survivors include his sister Eveline, his son Charles and his daughter Holly, his grandchildren Erica Deis, Charles and Sarah Beckmann
