George Edward Hretz Sr, age 93, formerly of Stratford, now of Medway, MA, the beloved husband of 68 years to Maryann (Frank) Hretz, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 in Milford Regional Medical Center in Massachusetts. Born June 28, 1931, in Wattsburg, PA, to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Dirga) Hricz.

George was a long time Trumbull resident prior to moving to Medway 3 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War and was a retired assembler for Sikorsky Aircraft. He also was the captain of the 1949 Warren Harding High School football team.

Survivors in addition to his beloved wife Maryann, include his devoted children, Pamela McKenzie of Medway, MA, and George E. Hretz Jr and his wife Katherene of Las Vegas, NV, 6 grandchildren, William, Eric and Andrew McKenzie, Kailani Hretz, Xenia Troy and Daniel Hretz, 5 great-grandchildren, Aislynn and Alice McKenzie, John Jr, Dustin and Annalis Troy In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, John Hretz.

Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 10-11:30 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. in The Carpatho- Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist 364 Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford
